Yes, you can refill the bottle with any clear alcohol but if you want to keep it authentic it is better to refill it with rice wine that you can find in Asian supermarkets.
If you want to keep the snake in good shape it’s better to let it covered with the wine, so when the bottle will be finished you can refill it with rice wine (that you can buy in Asian supermarkets) of any white liquor if you want to experience new taste :-)

I bought a bottle of snake wine in Hanoi in 2004. I’m not sure if it was bottled by your company, but the label is very similar.
I have never opened the bottle, but it appears that some of the wine has evaporated because the head of the cobra is partially above the wine.
My question is…is it still safe to drink this wine? Does it spoil?
